Mel Gibson to Appear in Karlovy Vary Festival Trailer

Mel Gibson, who was last year honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, is to appear in the trailer for the upcoming 50th edition of the event.

Gibson, whose visit to the Czech event, one of Europes's top film showcases will star in the short trailer to be shown before festival screenings.

The trailer, written and directed by Martin Krejci, is due to be shot in Los Angeles in early May. Krejci has cooperated with Ivan Zacharias on these short films since the trailers were first launched in

The stylish black and white shorts, part of a tradition for festival honorees going back to 2008, have previously featured stars including Helen Mirren, Jude Law, John Malkovich and Czech-born Milos Forman, Jiri Menzel and Vera Chytilova.

The summer festival, which announced the first details of its 2015 program in Prague Tuesday morning, will screen the new trailer alongside earlier shorts, allowing audiences to watch old favorites.
