Mel Gibson has brought his youngest daughter, five-year-old Lucia, to Sydney to show off his former hometown.
Gibson and his daughter spent Wednesday afternoon at the Edgecliff Shopping Centre picking up a few things from the Coles supermarket before visiting a local butcher's shop.
It has been some years since Gibson called Sydney home but the actor is set to make a new film - his first here in 30 years.
In June he was granted permission by a Californian judge to bring Lucia, his eighth child and the only one he had with former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, to Australia.
The former couple share custody of the girl, but Gibson had requested to have Lucia spend the summer in Australia with him while he shoots the movie Hacksaw Ridge, described as a World War II epic. Filming is expected to start in October.
While production is not expected to get under way for at least another month, Gibson is in Australia to work on pre-production for the project.
On Tuesday night the actor enjoyed a low key dinner at Surry Hills Indian restaurant Maya before collecting his daughter and her nanny at Sydney Airport on Wednesday morning.
