"I don't think of myself as either American or Australian really, I'm a true hybrid. It's a good thing for me because both of them are really good countries." - Mel Gibson
In the opening days of the Cannes Film Festival, Lionsgate has acquired the U.S. rights to the crime thriller “Dragged Across Concrete,” which stars Vince Vaughn and Mel Gibson.
“Dragged Across Concrete” is written and directed by S. Craig Zahler and follows two detectives who find themselves suspended when a video of their strong-arm tactics is leaked to the media. With no money and no options, they descend into the criminal underworld.
The crime thriller is produced by Keith Kjarval of Unified Pictures, Dallas Sonnier of Cinestate, Jack Heller of Assemble Media, and Sefton Fincham of Look to the Sky Films. The Fyzz Facility’s Wayne Marc Godfrey and Robert Jones along with Fantasy 6 (OTC:FNTYF) and Victory Square Labs’ Shafin Diamond will serve as executive producers. It is set to start production on July 17 in Vancouver.
“We are delighted to be working again with Mel Gibson who helmed our double Oscar winner ‘Hacksaw Ridge’ along with Vince Vaughn and the great production team behind this film,” said Lionsgate President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions Jason Constantine. “It’s a double treat to have screenwriter S. Craig Zahler also direct what will be an intense film for audiences.”
Vaughn is represented by WME and attorneys Deborah Klein & Peter Sample, while Gibson is represented by CAA and attorneys Tom Hansen & Don Steele.
