"I don't think of myself as either American or Australian really, I'm a true hybrid. It's a good thing for me because both of them are really good countries." - Mel Gibson
They are arguably the most iconic silver screen double act of the 1980s.
And Lethal Weapon stars Mel Gibson and Danny Glover reunited at an event honouring the film's director, Richard Donner, in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The pair looked overjoyed to be back together as they cuddled up for the cameras at the Academy tribute to filmmaker Richard Donner.
“Aussie-raised Mel, 61, was looking dapper in a blue blazer, shirt and trousers, though it seems unlikely he would emerge victorious in many front lawn brawls against former special forces operatives these days.
His 70-year-old sidekick Danny, whose character Roger Murtaugh famously whined 'I'm too old for this shit' in every movie, looked even smarter in a grey suit, waistcoat and leather shoes.
Also joining them at the thrilling event was Rene Russo, who played Mel's love interest in the third and fourth installment of the franchise.
The event featured of personal anecdotes, clips spanning his whole career and special appearances by friends and colleagues.
As well as his Lethal Weapon chums, the likes of Jeff B. Cohen, Carol Kane, Joseph Mazzello, David Morse, Ke Huy Quan and John Savage were there. Last, but definitely not least, producer Lauren Shuler Donner, Dick's wife of more than 30 years, was also there.
