Hollywood down under! Mark Wahlberg is slated to star in Mel Gibson's new World War II drama which will be filmed on the Gold Coast!
Mark Wahlberg is slated to star in the new Mel Gibson World War II drama, The Destroyer, it has been reported.
The Courier Mail claimed on Tuesday that the Hollywood heavyweight let slip he's attached to the project, which is set to be filmed in Queensland.
Mel, 62, will direct the 47-year-old in the drama centering on the Battle of Okinawa which took place in 1945.
The film's script has reportedly been penned by Rosalind Ross, who is Mel's partner of four years and mother of his ninth child, one-year-old son, Lars.
The big screen epic could follow in the footsteps of the Gibson-directed war drama Hacksaw Ridge, which won two Academy Awards.
Boogie Nights star Mark and Lethal Weapon leading man Mel are good mates, who worked together on the comedy Daddy's Home 2 in 2017.
The Braveheart actor recently made a mystery trip to Australia which was later revealed to be a location scouting tour. Mel was seen in Brisbane where he met with Screen Queensland executives, as well as eyeing off filming locations around the Gold Coast and Woongoolba. Last week, the Passion of the Christ director was pictured dining at his 'favourite' Sydney restaurant.
At one point, the multiple Academy Award Winner posed for fan photos with fellow diners. Another snap shared by restauter Evan Hansimikali showed a beaming Mel alongside a young fan.
